Clear Cache Automatically on Samsung One UI 6 Browser

Clear Cache Automatically on Samsung One UI 6 Browser

What’s happening

After updating my Samsung Galaxy S23 to One UI 6, I realized my browser performance was slowing down after a few days of use. Pages loaded slower, and sometimes the browser froze. I learned that automatically clearing the cache can prevent these slowdowns. I referred to the Samsung hub for guidance.

Where I got stuck

Initially, I tried manually clearing the cache every time, but it was tedious and easy to forget. I also attempted third-party cleaner apps, which sometimes caused login issues with websites and even removed saved passwords unintentionally.

How to set up automatic cache clearing (step-by-step)

  1. Samsung Internet → Menu (three lines) → Settings → Privacy and security
Locate “Delete browsing data automatically” and toggle it on. It was a bit hidden under Privacy and security, so take a moment to find it.
  2. Select data types
Choose “Cached images and files.” You can also select cookies or history if you want, but note this may log you out of websites.
  3. Schedule frequency
Pick daily, weekly, or on exit. I personally prefer “on exit” so the browser is always fresh after each session.
  4. Confirm settings
Close the browser and reopen to ensure the toggle works. Sometimes the first session still uses old cache, so give it one cycle.

What to avoid

  • Don’t select cookies if you want to stay logged in — it will log you out from accounts.
  • Avoid using third-party cleaners alongside this feature; conflicts can cause crashes.

Device-specific quirks

On some Samsung Galaxy devices running One UI 6, the “Delete browsing data automatically” option may reset after an OTA update. If this happens, just toggle it back on. For performance improvements beyond cache, visit the Performance & System hub.

Quick test

After enabling automatic clearing, visit 3–4 websites, then close and reopen the browser. Check the storage stats to ensure cache size resets to near zero. If it doesn’t, check for app-specific exceptions or update issues.

Extra details

This feature is designed to balance performance and convenience. Automatic cache clearing reduces app lag and page reload delays. For privacy-focused users, also check Security & Privacy hub for related settings like “Delete cookies on exit” or “Do Not Track.”
