Hide Private Photos on Samsung Devices in Canada

Hide Private Photos on Samsung Devices to keep your personal images safe from others who might use or borrow your phone. With Secure Folder and built-in privacy tools, Samsung Galaxy users in Canada can easily protect sensitive photos, videos, and apps behind an encrypted layer.

Step 1: Open Secure Folder

Go to Settings > Security and Privacy > Secure Folder. If this is your first time, sign in with your Samsung Account to activate the feature. Secure Folder uses Samsung Knox security to create a private, encrypted space on your device.

Step 2: Set Up Authentication

Choose a security method such as PIN, Pattern, Password, or Biometric Lock (fingerprint or face recognition). This ensures only you can access the hidden content inside Secure Folder.

Step 3: Move Photos to Secure Folder

Open the Gallery app, select the photos you want to hide, tap the More (⋮) menu, and choose Move to Secure Folder. The photos will be transferred to the encrypted storage and disappear from the public gallery view.

Step 4: Access Hidden Photos

To view your hidden photos, open the Secure Folder app and select Gallery. You’ll need to unlock it with your chosen security method each time for access.

Step 5: Hide the Secure Folder App Itself (Optional)

If you want to keep the Secure Folder icon invisible, go to Settings > Security and Privacy > Secure Folder and toggle OFF Add Secure Folder to Apps Screen. You can reopen it anytime through Settings > Biometrics and Security.

Step 6: Backup Encrypted Content

To prevent data loss, enable backup by going to Secure Folder > Settings > Backup and Restore. This syncs your hidden files securely with your Samsung account, ensuring they’re recoverable even if you reset your device.

For more privacy customization, visit Security & Privacy Settings.

Explore Samsung data protection and account recovery options in the Google Cloud Integration Hub.

AvNexo Tip

Always use biometric authentication for your Secure Folder. It’s faster and more secure than a PIN, especially if multiple people share your device. For maximum privacy, disable screenshot permissions within Secure Folder apps.
